This is the Place
Overview
The University of Nottingham Sports Department came to us needing a hero video asset that punched above their usual social content. Two audiences and two goals: inspire prospective student athletes to choose Nottingham, and deepen the sense of belonging and identity among UoN students as part of the wider university “This is the Place” campaign.
Our Approach
We led the full production from creative concept through to delivery. In pre-production we developed the storyboard and script, enabling precise visual planning across three shoot days and ensuring every sport and facility was captured with intention rather than just coverage.
On the ground we brought a team of seven including a Director, DOP, Gaffer, Photographer and Producer. Sound design and colour grade were completed in post-production to bring the commercial finish the brief demanded. This was the first sports commercial the university had produced and we treated it accordingly.
Results
The film became the University of Nottingham Sport's best performing piece of content, a record it still holds more than two years after going live.
26,000 views on YouTube and 145,000 organic views on Instagram, with over 1,700 likes. All organic, no paid promotion.
It ran simultaneously across social platforms and on screens throughout the university campus, reaching both audiences in the environments where they were most likely to connect with it.
